Thy Kingdome Come

Thy Kingdom Come

10th- 20th May at Eyam Church

‘THY KINGDOM COME’ is fast becoming an established season in the life of the Church of England and an initiative that is impacting the church worldwide following the call of our Archbishops to pray. Between Ascension and Pentecost (May 10th to 20th 2018) there will be many events throughout the country and beyond focusing on deepening our understanding of Jesus and praying for others to come to know Him.

Walk of Faith

At Eyam the inside of the church building will host a ‘Walk of Faith’. There will be a number of interactive prayer stations based on The Lord’s Prayer. If you visited last year come and see how different it is this year and if you missed it last year we hope this is something that everyone can engage with regardless of where you are on your journey of faith or even if you feel you aren’t on one! You are very welcome to participate in your own, personal way as you explore what The Lord’s Prayer means for you and take time out to enjoy the peace and tranquility of God’s presence in Eyam Church.

Pledge to Pray

We are all invited to ‘Pledge to Pray’ for five friends or neighbours during this 10 day period. You can do this by visiting the website https://www.thykingdomcome.global You will find more information here too and ideas about how you can participate as an individual or family. Praying is such a joy and a privilege. If you have never actually tried it maybe now is the time to have a go!

Together for Jesus

Prior to the day of Pentecost scripture tells us in Acts 2.1 that the followers of Jesus were all gathered together in one place. On Saturday May 12th there will be an opportunity to pray together from 9.45 to 11.00 in the Church Centre. Please come and join us.

“I cannot remember in my life anything that I’ve been involved in where I have sensed so clearly the work of the Spirit. “ - Archbishop Justin Welby

Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Amen.

July 2018

Sunday 22nd July

Award winning ensemble Mr Simpson's Little Consort are looking forward to their third visit to Eyam on Sunday 22nd July at 3pm, with a lovely programme of songs and music by Henry Purcell, Monteverdi, Caccini and other little know Italian Baroque composers. This year's theme is the torment of love, and we just had to include Dido's lament, the equally tormented "Plaint" from the Fairy Queen, and Monteverdi's sublime “Si dolce tormento” which takes a simple descending scale and elevates it to another planet! All the arias are exquisitely performed by our very own Cate McKee, and we are joined again by Dawn Johnson on the lute and theorbo. We are keen to introduce our younger members of society to the joys of live performance and tickets for under 18s are free. Normal priced tickets are £10, with concessions for seniors and students at £8. Tickets are available on the door, or can be reserved by email at this address sue@pierssnell.force9.co.uk
